Cecilia Kraitz

Introduction

Cecilia Kraitz (b. 1964) is a Swedish artist and ceramist based in Båstad, with her studio within walking distance of RAVINEN Kulturhus. At the age of 20, she discovered the Japanese ceramic technique raku, a method characterized by the intensity of the firing process and its unpredictable results. Throughout her career, she has experimented with this ceramic process and developed her distinctive artistic expression, with deep respect for Japanese tradition and its underlying philosophy.

Cecilia Kraitz has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions over the years, and has also appeared in the SVT productions Dreja – en kärlekshistoria and Antikmagasinet, where she, together with her father Gustav Kraitz, talks about ceramics as an art form and the Scanian ceramic heritage they themselves represent.

The shop’s selection of Cecilia’s ceramic works is dynamic and varied. Everything from delicate, traditional tea ceremony bowls to powerful stoneware vases can at times be found here throughout the year.
