Ulla Kraitz

In the exhibition, Ulla Kraitz presents self-portraits and portraits of her daughters Cecilia, Anna, and Katarina. She also presents portraits depicting friends and acquaintances.

Her portraits are independent and intellectual. Rather than reflecting a person’s outward likeness, they explore the sitter’s inner essence and psychological state. Through colour, light, and form, she brings out the underlying existential qualities of the people portrayed.

Ulla Kraitz was born in 1936 and studied in Stockholm and Spain. She is a painter and sculptor. As a sculptor, she worked together with her husband, Gustav Kraitz, who passed away in 2026.
