
OLAV CHRISTOPHER JENSSEN – IMPERFECTUM
Olav Christopher Jenssen is above all well known for his painting, although he has worked in a wide range of artistic techniques such as sculpture, drawing and graphics. An intense artistry with a curious view of life and its deeper meaning. Olav Christopher Jenssen was born in 1954 in Sortland, Norway. He lives and works in Berlin and in Lya, Sweden. In 1996 he became a professor at the Art Academy in Hamburg and since 2007 has held a professorship at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig in Germany. He has had large retrospective exhibitions, e.g. at Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Marta Herford, Herford and Saarlaändische Museum, Saarbrücken. Olav Christopher Jenssen participated in Documenta 9 (1992) in Kassel and is represented in several public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; British Museum, London; Kunstmuseum Bonn; Preussische Kulturbesitz, Berlin; Kunsthalle Hamburg, Hamburg; Moderna Museum, Stockholm; Center Pompidou, Paris and the National Museum for Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo.
