The Spaceship – A dance tale for families
Imagine if the city was a dance!
Imagine if the stomach could decide where it should feel at home!
The spaceship is a playful dance and architecture experience for children and adults. Together we build and dance with shapes and colors. Flows of play become meeting places and balance exercises become impressive constructions.
Since the Convention on the Rights of the Child became law in 2019, architects and politicians have investigated methods to include children’s perspectives and opinions in urban development. Dancer and choreographer Emma Ribbing is interested in how our behaviors are shaped by common environments and how children’s needs can shape social and urban development.
The approach assumes that playful dialogue of movement, image and form makes visible the need for co-creative processes, connection, movement and security.
The spaceship refers to the Convention on the Rights of the Child: Article 12 “Children have the right to express their opinion and be heard in all matters concerning the child…” and Article 13 “Children have the right to freedom of expression; to think and express one’s opinions…”
For children 3–6 years and their parents.
Duration of the performance approx. 15–30 min.
