After Historieätarna …now comes the Historielyssnarna! Welcome to a fun concert for all children, young people and happy adults!

What was sung in Gustav Vasa’s time? Where do the songs that Pippi, Karlsson på taket and Emil i Lönneberga sing come from? Who was that Bellman? How is it that some of the world’s most famous songs are written in small Sweden? And did you know that much of what we call Swedish today actually comes from completely different parts of the world?

In 2015, The Gothenburg Combo created “The History of Swedish Music”, an exhibition at The American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis in the USA that was experienced by over 100,000 visitors. Based on that exhibition, Combo has now written a fun and thought-provoking children’s and youth show about Sweden’s music!

David Hansson and Thomas Hansy in The Gothenburg Combo play their way through Sweden’s history and take you on a dizzying journey: with just two acoustic guitars, the Combo brings out everything from snare drums, drums and synths to violins, double basses and trumpets! They land in the 18th century of the Caroline Islands, in a shack in Dalarna, in ABBA’s glam 70s and of course in the middle of our own time! Combo puts the music in a historical perspective and shows how everything is connected. You also get to join in singing and learn some folk dance steps.

The Gothenburg Combo is one of Sweden’s most acclaimed ensembles: with two acoustic guitars and a rare stage presence, they have enchanted both audiences and critics on their world tours. Over the years, they have given more than 500 school and preschool concerts for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 16.
