In Between Music Festival presents:
Edda Magnason & Monbijoukvartetten

An evening of genre crossing music

Edda Magnason is well known for her unique voice, stylistic versatility and her wonderful compositions, but certainly also for the role of Monica Zetterlund in the hit film Monica Z – Ett lingonris i cocktailglas.

When she meets the classical string quartet Monbijoukvartetten and the virtuoso guitarist David Härenstam during the evening at RAVINEN, a musical melting pot arises where tradition and innovation intertwine. The first part of the evening offers newly written songs where Magnason’s expressive voice, among other things in the form of poetry, merges with the quartet’s rich sound world and Härenstam’s dynamic guitar playing and Klaverdal’s electronics. The result is a genre-crossing experience where the free lines of jazz, the direct melodies of pop and the nuances of classical music meet in dialogue in arrangements by Stefan Klaverdal.

After the break, an exciting premiere awaits: a newly written guitar concerto by composer Stefan Klaverdal. Klaverdal’s music moves freely between art music, jazz and electronic elements, and in this concert the boundaries between the acoustic and the electronic, the improvised and the notated are explored. The warm sound of the guitar meets the intensity of the strings and subtle electronic textures in a musical story full of surprises and unexpected encounters. An evening where the familiar meets the unexpected – a musical journey for the curious listener!
