In Between Music Festival: Sarah Riedel & Monbijoukvartetten
BiljetterIn Between Music Festival presents:
Sarah Riedel sings Kristina Lugn!
An evening of cross-genre music with the Monbijou Quartet, David Härenstam and Stefan Klaverdal
Sarah Riedel is one of Sweden’s most expressive and beloved jazz singers known for her quiet intensity, her curiosity and her ability to give new life to both ballads, jazz and poetry. She has worked for many years in the borderland between music and performing arts, and has sung poetry by Tomas Tranströmer, Cornelis Vreeswijk – and Kristina Lugn, among others. In 2016, the acclaimed album “Sarah Riedel interprets Kristina Lugn” was released, where Sarah, Georg Riedel, Viktor Skokic and Jonas Östholm set Kristina Lugn’s dizzying poetry to music and during tonight’s concert, some of the songs from this album will be given a new look in arrangements for the Monbijouk Quartet and David Härenstam.
Then, an exciting premiere awaits: a newly written guitar concerto by composer Stefan Klaverdal. Klaverdal’s music moves freely between art music, jazz and electronic elements, and in this concert the boundaries between the acoustic and the electronic, the improvised and the notated are explored. The warm sound of the guitar meets the intensity of the strings and subtle electronic textures in a musical story full of surprises and unexpected encounters. An evening where the familiar meets the unexpected – a musical journey for the curious listener!
