Frank Sinatra – Life and Music

Tickets

Welcome to a concert where life and music meet – in the spirit of Frank Sinatra! Singer Jakob Sollevi and pianist Filip Ekestubbe pay tribute to one of the 20th century’s most beloved artists. The concert offers classics such as My Way, Fly Me to the Moon, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and New York, New York – but also some of Sinatra’s lesser-known gems that show his breadth and emotional depth. Each song is framed by stories and anecdotes from Sinatra’s life: from growing up in Hoboken to the big arenas of Las Vegas and the glamorous life in Hollywood. We get to follow his musical development, personal path choices and the moments that made him an icon.

Sinatra visited Sweden on a folk park tour in 1953 and had acclaimed performances everywhere from Malmö and Helsingborg to Stockholm where he sang at the city’s 700th anniversary celebrations. His performance in Finspång’s Folkpark was not as successful as quite a few people showed up and the concert was a loss. After that, his career accelerated again with film roles and other things. That Frank Sinatra had a great influence on not least Swedish artists is quite clear, and today his music is loved by most generations.

In 2024, Sollevi and Ekestubbe were successful as guests at Soppteatern at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm. The guest performance was extended and after eleven sold-out performances, the duo has continued to achieve success around the country. The performance has been warmly received by the audience and is suitable for all generations – from those who grew up with Sinatra’s music, to those who have just begun to discover his unique sound. Projections of images, film clips and historical moments deepen the experience and give the audience a visual journey through Sinatra’s life and contemporaries. Together with the music, an experience is created for both ears and eyes. It’s a concert that brings back memories and laughs, that entices the audience to sing along, and maybe even fall a little in love with an era that never seems to lose its luster.

Jakob Sollevi is a jazz singer with the American songbook deep in his heart. Jakob’s warm baritone voice has touched audiences at the country’s jazz clubs and concert halls for many years. Jakob is one of the members of the celebrated group Stockholm Voices and is also hired as a soloist with various big bands, including Glenn Miller Orchestra Scandinavia and Ballroom Big Band.

Filip Ekestubbe is a jazz pianist based in Stockholm and is considered one of the foremost of his generation. He usually appears in smaller ensembles at jazz clubs and festivals around the country and in Europe and has released three records under his own name. Since 2016, Filip has worked closely as a musician, co-composer, arranger and producer with the artist Amanda Ginsburg and has also played/plays with artists and musicians such as Peter Asplund, Magnus Lindgren, Isabella Lundgren, Bo ‘Bo-Kasper’ Sundström and others.

The concert includes a break.

“Kronans klanger”
“Kronans klanger” is a concert series that playfully explores Sweden’s musical history from medieval ballads to today’s popular music. Each concert reflects an era that can be symbolized by the women who wore the crown. We therefore connect today’s concert to Louise av Battenberg, who, in addition to her involvement as honorary chairman of Sophiahemmet, liked to both read and listen to music.

“Kronans klanger” is also about highlighting how Swedish music has been influenced by or influenced music from other countries, and explores throughout the year how composers, musicians and artists have been influenced by or influenced music in or from other countries.

ATTENTION! The concert is on a Saturday!
