COHEN in Jiddisch with Louisa Lyne

LOUISA LYNE & di Yiddishe Kapelye

A soulful and heartfelt concert program in which Leonard Cohen’s Jewish heritage is recalled. Newly written songs based on Cohen’s poems translated into Yiddish are interspersed with his most popular hits.

A unique meeting where the poet’s own words are clothed in a new musical expression and brought one step closer to his Jewish identity. A musical tribute to Cohen’s life’s work, premiering in the year he would have turned 90, 2024.

Louisa Lyne was born in Härnösand, is a trained musical artist, and through a burning interest, studies and desire, has acquired the Yiddish language and the Jewish cultural heritage, made it her own and found her own artistic voice in its midst. Louisa has achieved great success both for her live performances, albums and previous school play Yiddish Revolution. In 2019, Louisa won the competition “Der Yiddisher Idol” in Mexico City, and through SVT’s program series “Folkets musik”, the group was celebrated when their version of The Ark’s “It Takes A Fool To Remain Sane” (S’nemt A Nar”) was received with open arms from both old and new audiences.
